When we moved into our previous home, the sunroom was bland, had no personality and was craving attention. The room had beautiful views and so much potential but hadn’t been designed to make to take advantage of these features.
Our first task was to change the hardwood floors completely. This wasn’t an easy or simple task, but we knew the reward would be well worth the effort.

Previously, the floors were comprised of 2.5″ boards in a gunstock oak wood. We chose a wider board of 5″ in maple, and a dark expresso finish. By installing the wood on a diagonal, it gave the room more character and visual interest.
We wanted to give the room a warm and comforting feel, so decided to paint the walls a beautiful light blue hue, and painted the windows a semi gloss white.
We added a large crystal chandelier, which is stunning. Since all the walls are windows, I didn’t want any furniture to obstruct the views, so I chose 4 cozy club chairs with a leather ottoman and grouped them in a conversational style setting. This room was my favorite room in the house, it was so warm and inviting with all the sunlight.
