Michelle and Barack Obama’s Washington D.C. Home Tour

For today’s Haute Home Tour, we will be visiting the former first lady Michelle and former president Barack OBama’s new home in the Kalorama neighborhood of Washington DC!

According to the Washington Post, the Obama’s have just purchased the home they have been renting. The Obamas plan to remain in D.C. while their younger daughter, Sasha, finishes high school at Sidwell Friends. After leaving the white house in January 2017, the family settled into a rental home owned by Bill Clinton press secretary Joe Lockhart and his wife, Giovanna Gray Lockhart, an 8,200-square-foot home that was built in 1921 and renovated in 2011.

The house features 4 finished levels, 9 bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms, and has an au-pair suite and 3 fireplaces. It also has an oversized terrace and formal gardens, 2 car garage parking & gated courtyard for 8-10 vehicles. The following pictures are from Realtor.com.

Let’s take a peek inside this magnificant home.

The house feels so modern and fresh with contemporary finishes and is so beautifully furnished.

What a beautiful kitchen with cabinets to the ceiling and marble countertops.

The subway tile looks phenomenal and gives this 1920s home a real modern touch.

Paneled walls in the dining room and ceiling.

Coffered ceiling in the family room.

Love this cozy space leading to the outside.

Master bedroom?

Free standing bathtub and marble countertops with white cabinets.

Big closet with an island.

The nursery and playroom must have been for the Lockhart’s children.

The lower level of the home has an au-pair suite and full kitchen.

Beautiful private manicured grounds.

Plenty of parking in this courtyard, off street parking is a huge bonus for a DC home.

Wow…what an impressive home. What do you think?
