This is your chance to own a Castle. The Gosford Castle in Ireland is up for sale – well part of the Castle is up for sale and it’s not as expensive as you’d think.
If you’re a “Game of Thrones” fanatic, maybe you should consider buying this, I mean who wouldn’t want to own a real castle in Northern Ireland?
History of the Gosford Castle
Here’s a little history. Built in the mid-1800s by the 2nd Earl of Gosford, Archibald Acheson, Gosford Castle was occupied by the Earls of Gosford until 1921. During the Second World War the Castle was commandeered and used to accommodate troops and a prisoner of war camp was set up in the estate.
Following the war, the Achesons sold the Castle to the Ministry of Agriculture who established the 590 acres as Gosford Forest Park, and was later designated Northern Ireland’s first conservation forest in 1986. The castle fell back into military use before being run as a hotel from 1983.
The Gosford Castle and The Game of Thrones
The castle was used in season one of the series “Games of Thrones”, in which it was used as the backdrop for when Rob Stark executed Richard Karstark for treason. It was also used to film scenes in season three for the infamous Red Wedding episode, in which several main characters were killed.
This Castle is listed with Maison Real Estate.
