Now that Thanksgiving is behind me, I am fully focused on Christmas preparations. We are trimming the trees, baking holidays goodies, and spending time with family and friends.
This past week has been so incredibly busy, with Thanksgiving festivities and family events. If you saw my prior post on A Transitional Thanksgiving Dinner you know that I have been working on holiday festivities for quite some time, check out the post for Christmas dinner table ideas for your holidays.
I have some exciting news to share with you, this past weekend we welcomed a new member into our home. This cutie has stolen our hearts with his infectious love, playful demeanor, and ridiculously adorable puppy face. He is truly a love bug and quite a snuggler. He is so calm and just wants to be held. The days are delightful…but the nights are PURE HELL! Did you think this was going to be a warm and fuzzy post?
Let’s get real…having a puppy is like bringing a baby home! It’s a lot of effin work! We have been down this road before, earlier this year we brought a puppy home and unfortunately he didn’t work with our family. We are going to try it again and I really HOPE and PRAY he will integrate well into our lives. My daughter wants a puppy more than anything in the world (including her brother) so we are going to give this every effort 😉 Any advice you can offer for a golden retriever puppy is appreciated…please let me know in the comments below.
Now, back to our Kitchen tour 🙂 I have been wanting to take a floral design class for quite sometime, but the classes fill up so quickly. Recently they added more spots to the Fall session, so I jumped on it.
The centerpiece we created in our first class is a bit more of a Fall/Thanksgiving arrangement made up of roses, sunflowers, alstroemeria, seeded eucalyptus, ferns, and fillers, and it looks lovely on our kitchen island.
Our floral design instructor recommends using shears to cut the flowers HERE prior to setting them in an arrangement. Shears will prevent damage to the stems – which scissors can cause (my bad that’s what I have been using). The shears are a bit pricey, but I ordered a pair, I’ll let you know how they work out, I use these shears in class and like them. I will also pass along tips and tricks I learn in the classes, stay tuned – more to come about floral design.
Fresh greenery and Juniper scream Christmas. If you aren’t familiar with the scent of Juniper, I’m confident you will love it as much as I do.
The delicate blue berries are perfect in any room.
A couple frosted pinecone wreaths with greenery and blue berries are on our kitchen doors. I purchased these from Michaels.
We set up a 10 foot flocked Christmas tree in the kitchen.
I am using a variety of ornaments, some are very heavy and they vary in shapes and sizes.
Whenever I find well built pretty boxes, I snatch them up. These gift boxes in silver and gold come from Home Goods HERE. They look beautiful under the tree and are a great accent to the space.
Frosted pinecone stems tucked into the tree give it a beautiful snowy appearance.
To add to our pinecone themed room, I added a bowl full of greenery and white tipped pinecones to the counter, simple and pretty.
This little guy brings all our Christmas decor together – we are so happy to have him with us in time for the holidays. How about you, do you decorate your kitchen for Christmas?
