This one will go down in the books. The blizzard of 2019 hit the Washington D.C. area with a bang, closing schools and the Federal Government.
The storm arrived in mid January of 2019 on a weekend. It dumped 12 inches of snow at our house over a two day period.
There is something so magical about a blanket of pure white snow. Looking out my dining room window was a sight to behold. We live on top of a hill and the views are magnificent.
Of course all this beauty comes at a cost. Our neighborhood roads are so treacherous, we can’t get down our very long driveway. But the sight of falling snow at night is well worth the inconvenience for a few days 🙂
Luckily, we didn’t lose power, because the temperatures were frigid.
We plowed our driveway twice, one time during the first half of the 2 day storm, and again once the snow had stopped.
The branches of the trees are so pretty with a dusting of white snow.
When it was all said and done, we were left with a foot of fluffy powder. I didn’t leave the house for 4 days. The kids had a fabulous time sledding our hills and our new puppy loved eating and playing in the snow. Of course getting him to go potty in snow was another story and required a bit of patience, but we got through it.
The snow plows cleared the road, and the sun came out. It was still a beautiful sight that we enjoyed for days.
And the deer were out in full force as the snow melted. I always wonder where they take shelter as the snow is falling.
It was fun to have one good storm this Winter. Am I ready for another one? Meh…not really…I’m good! One and Done! How about you, have you had a good snow storm this season?

Great pictures.
Thank you Mary! White snow makes everything prettier 🙂
Thank you for the lovely photos. We have longed for a beautiful and fun snow here in Nashville, but only a dusting once. I enjoy your post! What a beautiful and blessed life you are enjoying.
Welcome! Nashville, what a fabulous place. I have only seen photos, never visited – would love to one day. Yes we get a fair amount of snow, it is very pretty. The DC region doesn’t handle it very well, but as the years pass, we get better. SO happy you found my blog, thank you for commenting!
Lovely pictures! We’ve had two big snowstorms that required shoveling….the rest has just been messy and lots of ice and freezing rain. I am getting weary of winter though…it must be getting close to cherry blossom time soon?
Oh how I long to see our Cherry Blossoms! Ice and freezing rain are the worst, be careful out there walking and driving. We are visiting Lake Tahoe at the moment..getting a foot of snow each day! It’s wild here!
Lovely pictures. We have wanted snow here in Nashville, but only had a slight dusting. I love the “at home feeling” when we occasionally get snowed in. Thanks for sharing these wonderful snow pictures.
Hi Sandra, I completely agree 🙂 Love the home feeling of being snowed in too. But after a few days I get a bit stir crazy and have to get out. But it’s fun occasionally for sure! Hope you are doing well! Hugs!
We did not get the same accumulation here in Arlington. I love the pictures-snow is so pretty in the wide open spaces!
Hi Bettye! Are you in Virginia? The snowy mountains are really a pretty site to cherish when it does happen 😉 Thanks for visiting.
Yes I am in Virginia. I am in Arlington which does not have the beautiful rolling countryside.
Oh NICE! I didn’t realize that. Isn’t Virginia a beautiful state. I used to live in Arlington too. I have moved further and further out each time I moved. I love the countryside.
