It’s been over a year since you heard me complain about our groundhog issue. As beautiful as country living is, there are many challenges we deal with as home owners. I have no problem with wildlife until they start destroying our home.
How to Get Rid of Groundhogs Living in Your Yard took many months to write, as I was trying several different methods to get rid of these critters. After failing with each attempt, my final resolution was to fill the hole with cement.
This is how the hole looked after being filled with cement. It would certainly hold for sure, right?
Well…..guess what? Heeeeee’ssssssss baaaccckkk! I mean WTH! This is killing me! I think he lives in my yard just to torture me. I look out the window and see him sticking his tongue out at me…saying “nanny nanny boo boo”! Well buster, you’re messing with the wrong person! It’s been three years and my patience is running out!
This is what the hole looks like today. Where did the cement go?? It disappeared! He must have chewed around the outside causing the cement to collapse into the hole? UGH! I’m at wits end. The rocks are my pathetic attempt at trying to keep him out..of course it didn’t work, he just dug a bigger hole. There is also a gas line that runs under the patio..what if he chews through the gas line?
I’m not sure which annoys me more, the groundhogs living in our backyard or the voles living in my holly beds. Recently, I reached out to our pest control company to help me with the vole issue. I also learned from my pest company that the same product they use to control voles….works on groundhogs 😁 YES! I am willing to try anything!
This product is available on Amazon. We poured a few packets of bait into the hole, I am eager to see if it works! At this point, I have nothing to lose…except a groundhog 😉

Yikes. I can’t believe that filling the hole with cement didn’t work. This goes to show how destructive groundhogs can be. Fingers crossed that the bait packets work. Keep us posted!
