A few weeks back, we enjoyed watching the Super Bowl at a neighborhood party and devoured many yummy dishes.
I didn’t really care who won the Super Bowl, but just enjoyed the comraderie of being with my favorite people. The event, hosted by dear friends, was a potluck. I made Ham and Cheese Sliders for the big game and they were a huge hit. I am sharing the recipe today, it’s a slightly different take on a slider recipe, and really good! I hope you enjoy it.
To make these hot ham and cheese sliders, I suggest using King Hawaiian Rolls.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 c butter melted
- 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp minced dried onion
- 1 tbsp honey mustard
- 2 tbsp olive oil mayonnaise
- 12 King Hawaiian Buns
- 1/2 lb virginia ham sliced thin, not smoked or honey
- 1/3 lb swiss or havarti cheese sliced thin
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Slice dinner buns in half. No need to separate the buns, it’s quicker and easiest to slice them together.
Line a 9″ x 11″ baking dish with the bottom portion of the buns. I used my 6 quart baker, which fits 2 packs (24 rolls) perfectly.
Spread the mayo on the top and bottom buns.
Add ham to the bottom buns. If you want to separate the buns you can. But part of the fun is pulling apart the gooey cheesy goodness once they are baked.
Top with a slice of cheese.
Tip: One slice of ham and one slice of cheese is the perfect proportion for the sandwich. If you add another layer of ham or cheese, they will take longer to bake, and you risk burning the bottom of the buns.
Prepare the sauce in a pan. Melt the butter, add worcestershire sauce, onion, and mustard.
Brush the buns with the sauce and pour the remaining on top. Cover and bake for 12-14 minutes. I did not use the dried onion in my dish, and the recipe was still delicious, but the flavor will add that extra zing.
I hope you enjoy these sliders for your next party. Drop me a line if you try any of my recipes..I would love to hear from you!

Hmm ham and cheese, yummy combo!
These ham and cheese sliders were really good. It was a tasty combo of flavors and loved by all. Thanks for visiting Mel!
Oh yumm those look delicious! I love the cutting-all-in-one-piece technique – what a great idea – and I can see where it’s so fun to pull them apart! I was thinking I’d make them for a party, but since there’s no party coming up, maybe I’ll just make a whole bunch for myself, freeze them, and have lunches for a couple weeks! 🙂
Thanks as always for another brilliant idea!
What a great idea Barbara! Great portion control too. Between the two of us, we make a great team! 😉

Hi Michelle, they really are! I hope you get a chance to try the recipe, I would love to hear what you think.
