My Inspiration for our French Country Home Foyer Make Over – “ORC” (Week 2)

We are one week into the Spring 2020 One Room Challenge. This season the challenge spans eight weeks alleviating a bit of pressure and giving us more time to complete our transformations.

If you are new to my blog or the One Room Challenge, welcome! I am so happy to have you follow along.

WHAT IS THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

The One Room Challenge™ is a biannual event every Spring and Fall and is currently in its seventeenth season. Each round, twenty design bloggers take the challenge and transform a space. Every Wednesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over six weekly posts.

This season, due to the sheltering in place orders, the ORC will span eight weeks to give us all extra time to complete our spaces while staying safe at home.

The ORC has teamed up with Better Homes and Garden HERE to bring you this highly anticipated event.

MY PARTICIPATION IN THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

This round will complete my seventh season of the “One Room Challenge”. So many other talented people are also participating as guests, please check out their spaces HERE.

My guest participation in last season’s ORC was so exciting. The event helped us make one of the biggest transformations to date. We painted the complete exterior of our french county home, which is ALL BRICK, and a LOT OF IT! It looks so amazing and we are so happy with the change, makes us think we should have done it sooner!

You can check out my all my prior guest participation reveals in the links below

What Room Will be Transformed this Season of the ORC?

As I announced last week, in French Country Home Foyer Make Over- “One Room Challenge” (Week 1), I will be transforming the foyer of our home. This is what our foyer looked like when we moved into our home three years ago.

Yikes!

As you can see, the space is in dire need of being brought in the 2020s. Where do we start?

Inspiration for my Foyer Make Over

Anytime, I need inspiration for my home, I go to Pinterest where I have thousands of beautiful pins saved. In my blog post Insanely Fabulous Foyer Entrances, I highlighted numerous gorgeous foyer entrances that I love. But staying within my budget for this makeover, I won’t be able to add molding to the walls at this time as we are concurrently building a swimming pool and pool house.

For my inspiration this season, I am turning to the home of clothing designer and blogger Rachel Parcell.

FBEF46D5-FC1E-4972-AF3D-343622C75FF6There is marble on the entrance floor and iron railings in her french country home.

D80522A5-FC5F-4F59-8250-A56523487B51The space feels similar too, a large open area with a slightly curved staircase.

A56ABFA0-829D-4AF5-95E2-37B842F85AA6I love the railings and the way they attach to the wall instead of the stairs. I like so many of the details of the space and I will use Rachel’s foyer as my inspiration for our foyer renovation.

Rachel’s beautiful foyer was designed and furnished by renowned designer Alice Lane. My foyer will be designed by me 🙂
