Christmas in July

Do you celebrate Christmas in July? Christmas in July is an unofficial holiday. The term originated from the fact that in the southern hemisphere, Christmas is actually celebrated in the summer. Residents from that area throw Christmas celebrations in July, as that is the peak month of their winter season.

We live north of the equator in the northern hemisphere and celebrate Christmas in December. But if you ask me…it’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas!! 😉

It’s 90 degrees outside and we are in the midst of a summer heat wave. I feel so fortunate to live in an area of the world with four seasons, as I have come to really appreciate each and every one for different reasons.

Spring 2020

This year though has been so very weird, I think we are all turned upside down. We haven’t really had a chance to fully enjoy the change of seasons. Spring turned into Summer as we were quarantined and passed in a blink.

Summer 2020

So far our summer has been really fun. Our family has been spending a lot of time with friends whom we missed so much during quarantine. We also spent time with family at the beach, but took every precaution to avoid public places. Our new normal involves masks and social distancing, hand sanitizer and constantly washing of hands. We are staying safe and we are keeping others safe by abiding by rules set in place. What will the rest of the year look like? What will Christmas look like? We hope and pray that Christmas this year will be as normal as possible and we can enjoy everything the holiday has to offer with our family and friends. 🤞

Fall 2020

The end of summer which typically means the start of a new school year will be very different in 2020. Our county has given us two options for returning to school this upcoming Fall. Our kids can either do 100% distance learning or go to school two days a week and distance learn the other three days. After careful consideration and stressing over the situation, I changed my mind at the last minute and decided to do 100% distance learning for our kids. As much as I will miss the social interaction and in class learning for our kids, I feel keeping them home is the best decision for our family. 2020 will definitely go down as the weirdest year ever, but very thankful we are all healthy.

Winter 2020

With all the uncertainly in our lives, I feel it’s ok to start dreaming about Christmas. We need something to look forward that includes exciting thoughts of Christmas trees and our kids playing in the snow. Santa Claus, hot cocoa, twinkling lights and merriment. I know many of you are starting to think about Christmas too, so I want to share some pretty pictures to get you excited for the beautiful Winter season that is Christmas.

Christmas In July-17I absolutely loved our foyer trees last year. They were a new purchase for the season.

Christmas In July-16I bought three of these flocked trees, a 12ft, a 9ft and a 7.5ft. I also bought several strands of flocked garland to line the banister.

Christmas In JulyI set up the 12ft and the 9ft trees in the foyer of our home.

Christmas In July-12And the scene was magical.

Christmas In July-13Decorated with all white ornaments, such as glitter and textured balls, snowflakes and finials.

Christmas In July-11Pom Poms add an additional layer of texture to the tree.

Christmas In July-10The white on white creates a magical wonderland look in our foyer.

Christmas In July-8I love these trees and can’t wait to bring them out again this year.

Christmas In July-9My Christmas decor will change again this year, as I like to rearrange trees and change up the look. Getting giddy about Winter but still very much enjoying Summer and looking forward to the Fall season.

  1. I SO LOVE this gorgeous holiday foyer! The white on white is my favorite thing in the world. (Besides chocolate and pizza, of course!) 😉 I’m so excited to see what you do this year – you’re always so inspiring! Happy Hot Summer in the meantime!

    1. Me too! Chocolate and pizza are my favorites as well 🤣 Glad you like the white on white, I love the look too. With this heat wave it’s hard to imagine winter and snow but it will be here soon enough!
