My Spring Foyer

Entryways into a home are the first impression of how one lives. They can be inviting and calming or they can be blah and fall flat.

I have always loved foyers and designing them. I have written numerous posts about the space, as my prior homes’ foyer was incredible and quite grand.

Now, my space is much smaller and a lot more manageable I might add! I want it to have a warm and inviting feel for those who enter and those who live here.

Winter has been so cold, and we have gotten quite a bit of snow with no end in site! So looking forward to Spring, so I’m getting a jump on preparing my home for the beautiful season.

Having recently completed the space, I have to say I love it. It’s very simple but feels warm.

I designed the space around this painting I have had in my family for years.

The colors are so pretty, blue, pink, lavender, all those soft pale hues. Wanting to add more soft colors to my home, painting a table was the perfect solution, as I could choose the color.

I found this console table at Goodwill. Decent quality from Thomasville. I paid $25 and loaded it up in my car.

Finding the perfect paint color did take some time, with trial and error but in the end I love the way it turned out. The color I used is called Beacon Gray from Benjamin Moore. A soft pale blue hue.

Next came the challenge of finding the perfect lamps. Not as easy as it looks, I’ll do a separate post about choosing lamps. I ended up purchasing 2 pale pink lamps and I couldn’t be happier. Of course I love symmetry too 😉

Each lamp take a 3 way bulb, I am using 40/60/100 and keep them on 40 watts most of the time. I love the soft warm glow. I always use soft light or warm but never daylight bulbs.

I changed out the hardware on the table to bring in more pink and added faux garden roses to a beautiful table planter, sitting on top of a favorite book of mine.

Hiding the cords was a bit challenging, so I ended up wrapping them around the door frame and into an outlet on another wall. Would have worked out perfectly if there had been an outlet on the foyer wall..but there wasn’t.

The entryway is a level all its own, then you walk up after entering the home. Not my favorite design, but it’s fine and very useable.

The space also has a cute nook for pictures or trinkets. At the moment, I have these adorable pink trees in the space.

My entryway is traditional and feels very warm to me. I’m so looking forward to Spring and seeing tulips peak their heads out of the ground.

My home is a rental. I have been working on each space and want to share more of the rooms with you as I progress. Hoping you enjoyed seeing the space and will come back again to see more of our home.

Love to you all

Denise
