Dining Room Renovation – One Room Challenge (Week 3)

Going into this challenge, I had specific ideas in my head of how the space would look, but those have changed a bit the more I think about it.

What is The One Room Challenge?

The One Room Challenge™ is a biannual event every April and October and is currently in its fifteenth season. Each round, twenty design bloggers take the challenge and transform a space. Every Wednesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over six weekly posts.

The ORC has teamed up with Better Homes and Garden HERE to bring you this highly anticipated event.

Dining Room Remodel – One Room Challenge (Week 1)

We are now entering the third week of the challenge and so far nothing has been done to the room. We were traveling for Spring Break this past week so no work has been started in the space. I have, however been busy with behind the scene details of ordering new furnishings for the room.

Pieces are being delivered and sitting patiently in my foyer as I sort out the final details of the room.

Dining Room Window

Originally, I wanted to add drapes to the window, but have decided against that design element. The arched window is grand and quite a statement in the room. Privacy is not an issue and we don’t need drapes to keep out light. I want as much sun as possible and the view is pretty, so I nixed that idea. Adding art to the sides of the window is what I have decided to do instead of curtains.

Coffered Ceiling Ideas

As for the coffered ceiling, still deciding on which way to go..talking to my contractor and getting his thoughts on space issues within the corner coffers will help me decide on details to include or exclude. We will try to cut a piece and see how it looks before I make a final decision of extra molding. I have some fun paint ideas I may try as well 😉

As for the other design details in the room, I have spent a significant amount of time researching artwork and accessories, I really hope my vision all comes together in the end.
