One Week into the One Room Challenge and the design phase is going strong. Remodeling a room involves so many moving parts; design, construction, and implementation with each phase of the project taking a significant amount of time.
WHAT IS THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE
The One Room Challenge™ is a biannual event every April and October and is currently in its fifteenth season. Each round, twenty design bloggers take the challenge and transform a space. Every Wednesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over six weekly posts.
The ORC has teamed up with Better Homes and Garden HERE to bring you this highly anticipated event.
MY PARTICIPATION IN THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE
This round will complete my fifth season of being a guest in the “One Room Challenge”. So many other talented people are also participating as guests, please check out their spaces HERE.
If you missed last week, and the inspiration photos of my Dining Room Remodel – One Room Challenge (Week 1) you can catch up by clicking on the link.
Our Current Dining Room
This is the current state of our dining room. It’s spacious and provides a great space for gathering and entertaining. My main goal of the remodel is to lighten the space and give it more texture and balance.
Design Board for the Dining Room Remodel
In addition to lightening the room, I want to add color by bringing in a new vintage rug. I will balance the color in the rug with artwork for the walls and other accessories. I have spent a lot of time researching wall art and have some ideas on the direction I want to go. A new elongated mirror will add color and balance, and additional accessories will bring it all together to create a cohesive space.

How fun! Thank you! I look forward to the Challenge every season, even though it’s stressful…I enjoy it a lot and feel so accomplished at the end.
Yes – the stress is what pulls out that creative talent – 😉
I guess so, good observation 🙂

Denise, it IS going to be a challenge, because your current dining room looks pretty darn good!
Hey Buddy!! I missed you! Thanks for saying that..in my eyes it needs a lot of attention to pull it all together.
It will be interesting to see what you do with the walls…..currently it look nice, but I agree the walls could be lightened up. I do like your inspirational color scheme.
Hi Joni, I think lightening up the walls will make a huge difference in the room. I’m ready for a change 🙂
This is going to be beautiful!!!
Thank you Celine, I hope so 🙂
I can’t wait to see the final product! The color palette looks amazing! <3
The stones are really pretty, I’m happy with the choice 🙂
