A pampering party is great way to celebrate mom and her new bundle of joy because let’s face it…momming is hard work!
Moms needs a break to relax, kick up their feet and be pampered and one day a year isn’t cuttin it. I’m not knocking Mother’s Day..it’s a day all moms look forward to but come on…really – once a year?😬
When our good friend was expecting her third child – in lieu of a traditional baby shower, we threw her a delightful “Pampering Party”. The party was held after the baby was born because that’s when pampering is needed most…the sleepless nights, constant feedings, and diaper changes can take a toll on an already tired mom who is dealing with a full-time job and other children.
Preparing for a Pampering Party
How does one go about planning a Pampering Party? Where do you start? I’m glad you asked, let me take you along to our party and show you what the hostesses did to prepare for such an event.
Choose a Theme, Color Scheme, and Decor
Not all parties need a color scheme, but typically when planning a baby shower, gender appropriate colors are chosen for the event. My favorite type of decor to use for a baby shower, birthday party, or bridal shower is balloons. They provide a beautiful backdrop for your serving table and are a welcome surprise, adding the wow factor and plenty of color. Our party theme colors were blue and white since our friend had a baby boy. We used blue and white balloons and incorporated blue and white hydrangeas into the setting. I made a balloon garland using three different types of pearlized balloons, you can check out the complete tutorial in How to Make a Balloon Banner, Balloon Backdrop, or Balloon Garland.
Set up a Table to Serve Drinks
My friend set up an elegant drink table in front of the balloon garland, covered with a white cotton tablecloth. Our event was on a Sunday morning and considering this is a Pampering Party – Mimosa was the signature cocktail. A Mimosa is a mix of champagne and citrus juice. It’s most common to use orange juice but you can also use mango and peach for a variety in taste. Combine 3/4 cup of champagne and 1/4 cup juice or 3 parts champagne and 1 part juice, so easy to make on the spot.
Set Up a Spa Table and Consider Hiring a Masseuse
Once the guest of honor and the guests had arrived to the party, they were served a cocktail, then headed over to the Spa table. Our hostesses had set a table for guests to enjoy a facial while sipping champagne. To create a relaxing and zen atmosphere, scented diffusers and candles were scattered around the room.
Must-Have Gift for Mom
Once it was time to remove our facial masks, we had the pleasure of using a steamed hand towel from the professional warmer! WOW, I have got to get one of these babies! A sterilized steaming towel that we applied to our faces to open up the pores before applying lotions, oils, and creams. Umm yes please! You’ve seen them at nail salons – they are used to heat towels before being applied to legs during a pedicure, I love this machine. This would make a great gift for the special mom in your life for Christmas, Mother’s Day, a birthday…anyday!
Menu for a Pampering Brunch
So if we weren’t relaxed enough, it was time to enjoy a delicious meal. Brunch options for a party are plentiful and offer a nice variety of choices. My friend prepared all the food from scratch and really outdid herself.
Brunch Menu
Our brunch consisted of the following prepared dishes.
- Yogurt Parfait served with strawberries, blueberries, peaches, bananas, walnuts, and granola
- Crepes filled with strawberries and cream, drizzled with chocolate
- Greens and Strawberry Salad with Goat Cheese
- Prosecuttio on toast with a glazed balsamic vinaigrette and arugula
- Croissant sandwiches filled with egg, applewood bacon, and cheese
