French Country Home Foyer – “ORC” (Week 4) Removing Curtains and Stair Runner

The weeks are quickly passing and we are getting closer and closer to week 8 and the final reveal of the One Room Challenge.

WHAT IS THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

The One Room Challenge™ is a biannual event every Spring and Fall and is currently in its seventeenth season. Each round, twenty design bloggers take the challenge and transform a space. Every Wednesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over six weekly posts.

This season, due to the sheltering in place orders, the ORC will span eight weeks to give us all extra time to complete our spaces while staying safe at home.

The ORC has teamed up with Better Homes and Garden to bring you this highly anticipated event.

What Space Will be Transformed this Season of the ORC?

I announced in week 1, that we will be transforming the foyer of our home. This is what the foyer looked like when we moved in three years ago 🤦‍♀️

In week 2, my inspiration pictures gave me such energy to get my space done and completed. Of course, my inspiration room was designed by a professional interior designer, her amazing style was just the push I needed.

In week 3, I showed you my mood board and the elements I would like to incorporate into my design. The soft colors and the burst of coral are just what the space needs.

Week 4 is all about getting down and dirty. Removing curtains from above the door and the carpet runner on the stairs.

Yea…see what I mean? This is going to be a tough job. First up, to take down the curtains. This wasn’t the easiest of tasks to perform, due to the height of the window…but we did get it done. And yes, the personalized sign left behind by the prior owner was removed as well.

Next, was to pull up the carpet on the stairs. I thought removing the curtain was hard! My Gosh! The carpet on the stairs was extremely difficult to remove due to all the staples holding it down. This tool made the job a lot easier. After quite a bit of hard work, the rug was gone and I couldn’t be happier.

And look at the difference! Love seeing the dark toned wood stairs. Hmmm….wouldn’t white paint on the risers look nice 🙂 If you remember, I painted the risers in our prior home white too.
