Dining Room Reveal Part 1

After being in my home for almost a year and a half, I’ve finally almost completed my dining room. Why does it take so long? I feel that good design takes time. In the past, I have rushed into purchasing expensive pieces that I later regretted. In an effort to get a home “decorated”, sometimes I can get over excited and rush into choosing something I didn’t totally Love.

Another reason why it has taken me so long, is because not only have I been patient in researching and looking around at many different stores, but I have waited for the best sales too. I should do another post about how to snag the best deals on furniture…I’ve learned a thing or two about it.

If you’re interested in seeing the room in video format, click here.

Now, let’s get onto the reveal!

The space is small and open with only two walls and a cut out. I tried to utilize all the areas as best I could. The cut out allowed me to have a very large and tall buffet. I am in love with the pieces in this room.

The table is 60 inches and perfectly accommodates four people. I have had six at the table, a bit tight but still very doable. I love the cozy feel of a round table, it’s just perfect for conversation and really connecting with family and friends.

The large buffet is big enough to hold so many items needed to entertain. Mine is still empty, as so much of my dining room decor is still in boxes. This piece is beautiful and so well made, a really solid piece of furniture.

It’s March but my dining room screams winter 😂. The flowers and snowy scene on the wall are left over from the holidays but part 2 will show you an updated more Spring like area.

Did you notice the oversized mirror? Hard to miss and yes, it’s the same one I had in my prior home. I just love the reflection it provides and makes the room feel bigger.

Since the home is a rental, I left the chandelier as is, but I’m thinking about changing it out myself! But a bit scared, as I have never dealt with electrical – but hey how hard can it be? 😉

I added a string of twinkle light around the mirror. The effect is sooo pretty! I’m going to leave the lights up all year long…I love them that much.

For the final touches, I want to add either plants to the sides of the buffet or pictures and change out the art and possibly the chandelier.

A year and a half in the making and I am so in love with this room, it’s my favorite in the house. A home should feel comforting, safe and pleasing to the eye which reflects each of our styles. I hope I was able to give you some ideas today to make your spaces feel like home.

What do you think, I hope you like it. Drop me a line, love hearing from you all.

  1. You have such good style. Changing the chandelier is simple. Turn the power off. 3 wires. Black to black, white to white and a grid wire. Usually green or copper. Enjoy

  2. Denise! Always so fun to get your posts. Anything you do is classic and beautiful. Love the cozy dining room. Umm…where have I been? What have I missed? You are renting a house?

    1. Hi Laurie! Always so nice to hear from you! So glad you love the dining room, it brings me such peace and joy. Yes renting a place now, moved out over a year ago. I hope to buy a home at some point..lots of changes. I shared more about it on YT. Hope you’re doing well my friend.

  3. Your dining room looks good but of course you’re good at decorating. I agree light fixture needs to be changed for your decor.

    1. Aw thanks so much 🙂 Decorating is an evolving process, always getting better and learning more about my style. Love classic style the best…chasing trends is just not for me. One day you love it, next day you don’t. But I never get tired with timeless design.

    1. Hi Kim, thank you so much! It is definitely an evolving process and takes time to come together but starts with the vision 🙂
