It feels so good to be back connecting with you again. I have missed you all so much.
As quickly as life goes by, sometimes one can still feel stuck in time, perhaps in thoughts..not ready to move on or just “processing”. I’ve been feeling like that for a while now, so I’m trying to find ways to deal with it. I have always enjoyed writing, a creative outlet, the gift of sharing and expressing what’s on my mind. For all those reasons, is why I started my blog so many years ago.
Today I am sharing a mini home tour of my rental. It’s taken a while now to get it together, to find exactly what we need – all on a budget.
I also shared this on my Youtube Channel, if you prefer to watch via video, please click HERE.
Our living room is where we spend a lot of time together. Although our sofa is small, we manage to find a way to squeeze together to watch TV.

While Bentley keeps a watchful eye on us, our living room is maximized for togetherness but not necessarily comfort. In hindsight, a sectional would have been a better choice for this space considering it is the main area to watch TV.

When my daughter is home from university, this sofa is always utilized by one if not all of us.

I had been wanting a colorful painting for the area and finally decided on this beauty by the Eleanos Gallery. I chose a vertical piece with a gold frame to create a more modern feel in the room. The company was so great to work with and even sent me a picture of the piece for my approval before shipping it out. Each piece is hand painted and there are so many options from which to choose. If you are interested in a hand painted piece for your home, use the code “Denise” to get 40% off!! This code was specifically created for my readers and viewers. If you do purchase one, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
That beautiful glass cabinet is also a great find, and now over 50% off. I use it to house pieces I change out often, for the coffee tables, dining room and credenzas.

On the other side of the room is our TV and a couple velvet ottomans. They serve as additional seating and double as a foot rest when watching TV.
The media console was a superb find on clearance. The doors open and are great for hiding my printer, routers, gaming gear and cable box.
Moving over to the family room, is a comfy area I use mainly in the morning hours.

This room gets the morning sun, and Bentley and I love hanging here to chill.

Most of the furniture is from our prior home with the exception of the coffee and end tables.

Notice all the cute plants? My daughter loves greenery and brought many into the home.
The space feels cozy, another great spot to hang as a family and chill.
My plan is to move into a permanent home at some point with more space, when the time is right. But for now, this home suits our basic needs and feels warm and that is a very nice feeling.
Hope you all are doing well, please drop a line to say Hi..as I have missed you all so much!

So cozy Denise. You could make a matchbook look beautiful! I always try to edit way down like that but somehow my coffee and end tables end up piled high with books, papers, cell phone chargers etc. I guess that’s my ‘lived in look.’☺️ And I must say that Bentley is your best accessory. Always great to see your posts and glad you are doing well.
Hi Laurie! So glad you like our space but to be honest, it’s usually much messier than I showed! I cleaned it up before filming and taking pictures. With 2 kids here, you can imagine, it doesn’t stay super tidy. Always tidying up and trying to stay organized 🙂 Thank you for stopping by to say Hi, hope you are doing well and staying cool on these hot summer days. xox
So good to hear from you, Denise. Glad you’re doing well. Thanks for the home tour and that picture is perfect for living room colors. Bentley is the special decor 😍 in the house.
Hi Nancy, so glad you enjoyed the tour 🙂 Bentley loves being in my pictures and videos, he loves saying Hi to you all! Thank you for stopping in and saying Hi. Hope you’re doing well and staying cool. Happy Summer 🙂 xo
Hi Denise! I haven’t been blogging myself for two years, just starting back in May, so have been out of touch with all my favorite blogs.
Hi Joni! SO good to hear from you! My blogging has slowed to a 🐌 pace myself…but trying to get back into it as I do love connecting with you and sharing ideas, recipes, decor and so much more. I look forward to reading more of your blog too! Welcome Back!
Thanks Denise! I had open heart surgery last year to fix a valve they had been monitoring for awhile, and so my mother had to go to a nursing home where she passed away last summer at the age of 98, and then cleaning out and selling her house and settling all the estate stuff, just wore me out physically and emotionally. I remember you lost your parents too, so I’m sure you can relate. Remember not to put too much pressure on yourself to blog – just when I feel like it, that’s what I’m trying to do.
Hi Joni. I’m assuming the surgery was a success and praying the issue was fixed 🙂 I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. Yes, I went through the same and it’s gut wrenching. But we have the comfort in knowing they lived a long and happy life. It does get easier..but I don’t think one is ever ready to lose a parent regardless of age. Hope you’re doing ok. Definitely taking me a while to get back to blogging and my Youtube, but I am trying. I find it fulfilling and it makes me happy to connect with you all. ❤️
Yes, it was just to repair a valve – kind of elective surgery in that I felt okay and didn’t have any symptoms but they wanted to fix it before it needed a replacement, so it’s good I got it over with. I miss my mom especially this summer as I near her one year anniversary date, but I try and stay busy. I can’t complain as I had her for 68 years, more than most people ever get. Nice to hear from you too!
Sounds like you made a wise decision Joni, very glad to hear you took that route. I miss my mom too and always will..noone compares to mom 🙂 Have a great summer!
