One of my favorite aspects of blogging so far, has been meeting new people with whom I have a common interest. The world wide web is an enormous place, so when friendships are formed online, chances of meeting in person are slim.
But sometimes you are lucky enough to discover that someone you have followed and admired for sometime lives in the same region as you do….and they want to meet up… Score! WooHoo! Happy dance!
This recently happened to me when one my favorite bloggers expressed interest in getting fellow Washington D.C. area Instagram friends together for a meet and greet, needless to say I jumped at the chance. This would be my first blogging/Instagram meet up. I was feeling super excited and a bit nervous being relatively new to the Instagram world, and was feeling like the new kid in town.
Our incredible hostess, Missy, offered up her amazing residence as the meeting location and made us all feel so welcome in her home. Calling Missy’s home amazing doesn’t begin to describe it, and she graciously allowed us to take pictures.
Living in the D.C. area all my life has allowed me the privilege of stepping inside some of the finest homes in the country…but Missy’s home blew me away. Imagine having a home where you can hike, swim, ride bikes, play golf, tennis, basketball, and volleyball without ever leaving home. The property also has a pool house, guest house, two apartments, several garages, sheds, and a large barn. The prior owners kept horses on the property and the beautiful barn is a fully equipped stable.
I invite you to take a peek inside this extraordinary property.
Situated on 42 acres in Potomac Maryland, this palatial estate house has been renovated from top to bottom.
No detail was left out during the 2 year renovation of this home.
We were greeted by beautiful Fall mums as a welcome gift from our hostess.
Missy’s decorating style is modern traditional, and oh so elegant.
Every room of the home is so perfectly styled with beautiful art and antiques.
The kitchen is a dream with white cabinets and brass hardware. Flowers were abundant throughout the home.
The eating area off the kitchen is styled so perfectly with shiplap walls and black doors.
We had lunch in the formal dining room with hand painted walls.
The family room is large and bright overlooking the pool and pool house.
Typically sunrooms are my favorite room in a home, and Missy’s home is no exception. The abundance of trim surrounding the windows is an extraordinary site and feels so cozy and warm.
The outdoor gardens are truly a sight to behold. Pebble pathways give the feeling of being in a european garden.
The fountain creates such a peaceful presence and is perfectly situated on the grounds.
A small private patio is the perfect setting for afternoon tea.
Did I mention there is a private gold course on the property?
Large majestic trees are everywhere and grace the grounds everywhere I turned.
The large patio is perfect for entertaining and hanging out.
The pool house, equipped with sliding glass doors, is so beautifully decorated.
The shutters close for the cooler months.
Inside the pool house, everything you need to hang out for the day with friends and family.
Along with incredible views.
Also situated on the grounds, is a tennis court.
And volleyball court.
Everywhere I looked, the sights were picturesque.
I would never leave this home if I lived here.
The breezeway connects the main house to other buildings on the property.
Our American flag proudly graces the property symbolizing valor, peace, and love.
I had such a delightful afternoon meeting and making new friends through this Insta Gathering. Meeting Missy and being invited into her home was truly an exceptional experience, one I won’t soon forget. I hope you enjoyed visiting Missy’s home as much as I did.
