Cherry Blossom Branches – Washington D.C.

It has been a long and cold Winter in the Washington DC region this year, but signs that Spring weather is approaching…and here to stay…are evident.

Spring trees are in full bloom. Recently, I posted about our visit to see the cherry blossoms in Washington D.C. HERE. But no need for us to go very far to see gorgeous cherry trees.

Cherry Blossom Tree Lined Driveway

Cherry blossom trees line the driveways of many homes in our neighborhood. It is a week of splendor to see so many blooming trees come to life after a dreary and cold Winter.

Spring Clean Up

Landscaping is in full swing with Spring clean ups, pulling weeds, trimming back trees and bushes, laying mulch, and mowing lawns. It is picturesque to see lush green grass after laying dormant over the Winter months.

Weeping Cherry Tree

Our weeping cherry tree has started to bloom, the tree produces hundreds of delicious mouth watering cherries each year that my kids enjoy picking. fullsizeoutput_81b6.jpegIn dire need of a trim, but the tree is so pretty…I love the weeping branches. My son recently gifted me with a small bunch of blooms. I thought…what a great idea…let’s bring a few branches inside!

Bringing Cherry Blossom Branches Inside

The height of the branches creates an impressive display with a lot of color and little fuss.

  1. Your neighborhood looks like fairyland Denise! Such gorgeous pink trees! We are a long way off still from flowering trees in Chicago. I would love to be in DC to see the cherry blossoms one day.

    1. Thank you Elizabeth! We do have one of the prettiest neighborhoods in Northern Virginia if I do say so myself 🙂 And Springtime is one of the prettiest times of the year. Thanks for visiting!

  2. I love the cherry blossoms too! Like you, I am in Northern Virginia and can see beautiful trees right in my neighborhood. Although nothing beats the beautiful setting of the Tidal Basin in full bloom.

    1. You are absolutely right! A beautiful site for sure!! So happy you are close and get to enjoy them as well 🙂

  3. Cherry Blossoms are so pretty! Still bummed to this day that I hadn’t realized that my one and only day trip to Washington DC some 5 years ago was a week too early to enjoy them in full bloom/the festival week for them.

    1. Oh No! It’s so hard to predict the perfect week to see the cherry blossoms – it changes year to year based on the weather. This winter was so cold, peak bloom wasn’t until April, other years it was March. Hopefully you can get back here another year, definitely worth the trip!
