What is a living room? Do we really need another place in our home to sit? Seems like these days newer homes are being built without a “living or sitting room”.
Personally I still like the idea of a more formal place to sit after a dinner party and chat with friends. Yes we have a family room that can be used for the same purpose but the “living room” is hardly used these days, do we really need it? I say YES!
So another room I get to have fun redecorating. Woohoo! This living or sitting room had so much natural light and beautiful windows but lacked any type of appeal.
As we did with the sunroom, we replaced the oak floors with hand scraped 5″ dark maple.
I wanted to keep the room bright and the window was so beautiful. A fresh coat of semigloss paint to the window trim was all the window needed. Natural sunlight in a room is so inviting, if I can keep curtains and blinds off a window, that is my preference. I added textures of linen, with the sofa, and chairs. We painted the ceiling the same color as the walls for continuity, color is Glacier Sand by Pratt and Lambert. The room didn’t have a chandelier, so I wanted to add 2 tall standing lamps. the floors were so beautiful, no rug was needed, and the barn wood coffee table was the perfect addition.
Our new modern farmhouse living room was complete. What do you think? Like the post, share your thoughts. Thanks for stopping in.
