Our Home is Lit! All About Outdoor Lighting

I can’t say enough good things about the effect that outdoor lighting has on a home.

Driving through a neighborhood where homes have uplighting is a sight to see. Many neighborhoods in our area have invested in outdoor lighting and it makes a world of difference to the exterior appearance of a home. Houses that are lit up at night stand out from the other homes. It makes you want to park your car and just stare…..the view is that pretty!

Watermark-25During our recent outdoor renovation, Home Exterior Modernization Final Reveal, we added outdoor lighting to the front facade of our home.

Outdoor Lighting-1I can’t tell you how much we love the look! It has changed the appearance of the entire house.

Outdoor Lighting-2The warm glow of the lights shining up onto the exterior is magical.

Outdoor Lighting-3In addition to the uplighting on the house, we also added pathway lighting near the walkway. These lanterns are so attractive, I fell I love with them immediately.

Outdoor Lighting-25The two small trees on the sides of our house are lit up as well.

Outdoor Lighting-26The soft glow of the lights look so pretty against our Ivory Silk trees. As they mature, the lighting beams will be adjusted to take full advantage of its growth.

Outdoor Lighting-20We are so pleased with the appearance of our home now, I love driving up our driveway in the evening. My kids are getting annoyed with me saying…”should I park the car so we can stare at the lighting”?! 😉

Outdoor Lighting-14We have Chris Myer with Beautiful Nights to thank for changing the appearance of our home. Chris is a true professional and so knowledgeable about lighting, he made the process so easy. I didn’t bid this project out to several different companies like I usually do, I met with Chris and knew I wanted to go with him and his vision for our home.

Outdoor Lighting-13And we couldn’t be happier with our decision.

Outdoor Lighting-18Our River Birch trees are lit all the way to the tippy top…at least 30 feet high if not more. These trees are lit using six 60 degree spotlights. Each one is very heavy duty and built to last a lifetime.

Outdoor Lighting-17The trunks look amazing too.

Outdoor Lighting-16At the last minute, we added in an additional light for our Japanese Bonsai, and are so pleased with the look.

Outdoor Lighting-15If you live around the Washington DC area, I highly recommend Chris as a go to guy for outdoor lighting. His experience and expertise made the process seamless and gave us the exact look we wanted. Chris specializes in residential and commercial lighting. Outdoor lighting is Chris’ specialty and his principal business. He is on the job site every minute to ensure the job is done to perfection. I was very impressed with his attention to detail and his recommendations for lighting based on the color, the size and height of our home. He knew exactly what beam spread to use, where to use floods, and exact placement for pathway lights to ensure optimal home gorgeousness!

We love our uplighting in the front of our home and look forward to adding additional lighting in our backyard once we complete phase three of our backyard reno. What is phase three you ask? It’s going to be a doozy 🙂 Stay tuned!
