Home Exterior Modernization “One Room Challenge” (Week 4) Painting Our Brick Home

Officially half way through the challenge and I can’t wait to do the final reveal!!

I am giddy with excitement about this latest home project of ours and it’s turning out beautifully. A few hiccups in the road to date which is expected with a project of this magnitude. I’m learning so much about this process and I’ll pass all that information along to you, so you can benefit from my advice and avoid one big mistake I made so far in the process.

WHAT IS THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

The One Room Challenge™ is a biannual event every April and October and is currently in its sixteenth season. Each round, twenty design bloggers take the challenge and transform a space. Every Wednesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over six weekly posts.

The ORC has teamed up with Better Homes and Garden HERE to bring you this highly anticipated event.

This round will complete my sixth season of the “One Room Challenge”. So many other talented people are also participating as guests, please check out their spaces HERE.

Prior Weeks Progress of our Exterior Modernization

This season, we are modernizing the exterior of our home. You can catch up on the details from previous weeks below.

This Weeks Progress on our Exterior Painting

This weeks progress has been tremendous. My painters have been working their way around the house, front to back and applying the top coat of paint using a sprayer.

4E5D1F57-13F9-41BE-B2BF-7EC112C7C857A world of difference. Sadly, the rhododendrons I transplanted last year didn’t make it thru the hot summer so they have been removed and the area reseeded.

What is Coming Up Next Week?

I have so much more to show you all..I can’t barely contain my excitement for the final reveal. All the painting and touch up will be completed this week. Next week, outdoor lighting will be installed! I can’t wait to see the house all lit at night! Lots of good stuff coming your way.

A Surpise for the Special Few

So, I bet you are all wondering what a home project like this runs? Right! Because if it were me…I know I would want to know! So I am going to disclose price information and what a project like this costs. But there’s a catch. This information will only be available to my subscribers and can be accessed via the member login portal. So…what are you waiting for? 😉

  1. Sure did change the look. Very beautiful! Can’t wait to see all of it. How do you join as a member? I subscribe via email but don’t have a log in set up. Can’t seem to find a way to do that. Thanks and keep the updates coming!

    1. Hi Sara! Thanks for subscribing! I will make sure all my subscribers get a password to log into the member area. I’m working on content so once it’s available you will be the first to know!

  2. Wow – that is so beautiful Denise – I can feel your excitement all the way over here! 🙂 I like the subtle creaminess of the paint color, and you’re right – the landscaping looks gorgeous against the white. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Can’t wait till next time!

    1. I am really thrilled about the change. I disliked our brick color so much, this is a huge improvement! As always, thanks for following along Barbara!

  3. It appears you also painted the brick floor at the entrance. Any concerns it will wear off with traffic?

    1. Hi Marianne, yes I do have concerns it will rub off in the future but so far so good. The ground also gets more dirty than the sides of the house. For now it works, for the future we will replace the patio front with another stone but I’m glad I painted the steps.

  4. 1. What color & finish did you uses on the exterior Sw alabaster?. 2. What color and finish for the trim?

    1. Hi Kim, house and trim color – both are Alabaster. House color finish was satin/gloss, trim was a gloss.
