How I Prepare My Home for Valentine’s Day and Easy Ways to Celebrate the Occasion

I’m not gonna lie, I spent very little time preparing my home for Valentine’s Day.

I have a dirty little secret…(okay maybe I have more, but I’m only sharing one today).  I spent so little time preparing for Valentine’s Day because everything I need was left over from Christmas.

Valentine's Day Home Decor-2You all know, I love red for Christmas. Every year I will have some red in my home at Christmastime. Red pillows, a red throw, and red accents will adorn at least one room in my house. Red is the color of love and such a beautiful festive color that should be celebrated.

Valentine's Day Home Decor-1That same red decor transitions so very well into February and Valentine’s Day.

Valentine's Day Home Decor-3I feel fairly certain that we will get one more good snow storm in the Washington D.C. area before Spring arrives. Last week, our temperatures were in the 30’s, and this week they are in the 60’s but trending down.

Valentine's Day Home Decor-4Winter is still in the air, even though my kids are asking to wear shorts to school 🙄. A couple warm days…and they think it’s Spring.

Valentine's Day Home Decor-5To be perfectly honest, I’m not ready for Spring yet. This Winter has been fairly mild and we have stayed relatively busy, so I am not feeling the rush for warmer weather…even though I do hate the cold.

Valentine's Day Home Decor-6The only new addition to our room, is a bouquet of fresh pink flowers. My husband beat the rush and gave me roses early. Why? I won’t allow him to purchase them on Valentine’s Day, I refuse to pay the pricey mark up…it’s one of my pet peeves. Roses are reasonably priced the rest of the year…but at Valentine’s Day the price gets jacked up…not BUYING it! Literally!

Valentine's Day Home Decor-7This beautiful tray is from Arthur Court Designs. They have gifted me so many lovely pieces and I treasure them all. They are made so well and look so pretty displayed on a coffee or dining table.

I also love my red cone tree with berries. It’s so festive and works for Christmas and Valentine’s Day…SIMILAR HERE.

Valentine's Day Home Decor-8Unfortunately roses don’t last too long, but alstroemerious flowers do! So the combination works well together.

Valentine's Day Home Decor-9That’s it…keeping my Valentine’s Day home decor simple and efficient 🙂
